Patricia's world turned upside down when she was accidentally diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma (LMS), an extremely rare cancer affecting only 1 in 5 million people. LMS is also a very aggressive type of tumor, thus nicknamed the Purple Dragon. After the initial shock of the diagnosis subsided, Patricia was ready to discover ways to heal herself and find hope. She went from being a counselor to thousands of patients on how to be proactive and take charge of their own health, to taking unknown paths in search of hope for surviving a disease that does not have a single established medical treatment. She embarked on a spiritual journey, which took her to Omega Institute, Bali and Brazil, where she met healers, a guru, a physician and other extraordinary people who became instrumental in her finding peace within and starting to believe that everything can be healed, even the Purple Dragon. Born in Brazil, Patricia moved to the United States at age 20. She has a Master of Nutrition Science from the University of California, Davis, and has worked as a university professor, researcher, speaker, clinical dietitian and diabetes educator. She is also the proud mother of three children (including an angel in heaven) and the founder of Helping Children Heal (HCH), an NGO that provides medical treatment for impoverished and sick children who don't have health care. Patricia is a world traveler, having backpacked solo in Tibet, Nepal, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Namibia, India and many other countries. Above all she is a proactive woman who has been inspiring many as she travels the paths of healing and discoveries, keeping alive the flame of faith that even the Purple Dragon can be tamed.

I did not want this book, or Patricia's story, to end. She writes so that her courageous and beautiful spirit come through the book straight to my heart. While I have never faced a cancer diagnosis, I have lived with a chronic disease for most of my life. I found Patricia's story truly inspirational, not only for the strength and courage she shows, but also for the vulnerabilities that she so compellingly shares. Her story helped me to recognize that it is OK to admit fear, loneliness, and the need for support sometimes. Yet her positive energy always soars above all else, and her story demonstrates her love of life and her determination to live a long one full of love. When I finished the book I felt like I had just spent time with a dear friend, and I hope that she writes another book so that I may continue sharing her story with her.

A sweet honest yet enlightening story about one woman's struggle with cancer

I put off reading this book for a few months because I was scared. Scared of the feelings it would bring up, scared of feeling sad as when I read I read for pleasure. I took this book on holiday with the plan to read it and I did. I read it in 24 hours, I couldn't put it down. I found Patricia's story enlightening. Her approach towards dealing with her illness is inspiring and interesting. For those fighting an illness, those supporting a ill person or anyone that is remotely interested in spirituality this is a must-read. She talks of her feelings in such an honest way and I love the way she touches on her interactions with others in a way that is truthful but kind. I liked the diary style that she uses, while talking a little if the past and future, like someone going back and narrating their diary. Thanks Patricia for having the courage to let us peek into your life in order to change ours for the better!

Sandy McQueen's book gives the reader an excellent viewpoint of what it was like to be a burlesque dancer. The high points, being the fame, money and the glamour. The negatives: customers who were too forward, police harassment, locals whom shunned them, and envious dancers. She presents the subject matter in a very readable manner. This is a rare down to earth true story of a great era from the past.

An essential book

Once every few years, "someone who knows" adds meaningfully to the formidable array of Gurdjieff-related books. This is an essential book, in any sense of the word. Since Amazon has been kind enough to post an excerpt online, I will not say any more, but by all means have a look. John Anderson and Marshall May have done a superb job of sharing the ideas of Jerry Brewster, and these ideas are formulated exceedingly well.

This is not a book about music, it is not about directing a choir or playing the organ to lead worship although it certainly covers those areas. It is not a book for the contemporary church worship leader or the traditional church worship leader, it is a book for leadership and ministry that is founded on Scripture. When the framework of worship is based on sound theology, the creative ways in which to glorify God are endless The author makes this his central focus! The book is written in a vernacular that allows, even encourages. all leadership in ministry to easily digest the material. You do not have to be a “five talent” musician to profit from your time with the content. The chapter divisions are conceptual in nature which allows you to move through the material one concept at a time as you build a Total Framework for ministerial leadership, which includes being a Worship Leader. Don’t get me wrong this is not a theoretical book but it is a book of practical suggestions and rules of engagement for the worship leader but the principals apply to all forms of leadership in ministry. The Framework for Worship is indispensible for the Worship Leader of any style or denomination as the author uses his extensive experiences to answer the hard questions. More Than Just Book for Worship Leaders!

What a work of art this book is! The combination of instruction/suggestions for worship leaders, combined with solid biblical backup and downright practical advice, makes it a must-read for musicians and worshippers alike. As a part of the Calvary Fort Lauderdale family (now via the Plantation campus) for the past thirteen years, it was so interesting to read how the nuts and bolts of the Worship Team operates (auditions, sound, rehearsals, etc.). But this book is SO much more than that! Not only was it a chance to see into the heart of a pastor and leader...to see the integrity and care that he took with the ministry that had been entrusted to him - but this book encourages ALL of us to examine our hearts - in the way we worship, the way we treat others, the way we pray and even give, the approach we take to change and to authority, the ways we handle the challenges of discord and yes - even scandal. Pastor Clay, thank you for writing this book...for taking the time to share with others...as a mentor, as a pastor, as a husband/dad, as a fellow traveler through this "land" preparing for the next. Thank you for taking the time to liberally share God's Word throughout the book, always pointing back to Him and what He says. Proverbs 27:19 "As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man."

About the Author
Joshua Free is the founder of Mardukite Ministries (2008), an organization that has continued to grow phenomenally since, and the prolific author of many works including Arcanum, Book of Elven-Faerie, The Sorcerer's Handbook of Merlyn Stone, Necronomicon Anunnaki Bible, Sumerian Religion, Babylonian Myth & Magic, Draconomicon, and many others. In the 1990's he was the youngest initiate of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids in England until he left to independently pursue the origins of the Celtic Druids - resulting in the "Book of Elven-Faerie", now available in a collected works anthology with "Draconomicon" and "Druidry" titled: "The Druid Compleat" (2013). Joshua Free co-founded the Systemology division (Systemological Society) of the Mardukite Research Organization in the Spring of 2011 and authored the first four 'NexGen booklet' installments comprising "Systemology 1.0" (better known as Systemology-101), including "Human, More Than Human", "Systemology: Defragmentation", "Trans-Human Generations" and "The Games" -- all of which appear in "Awakening: Systemology-101." This work has since been complimented by the Systemology 2.0 materials released in 2013 as "Reality Engineering." Although usually best known for his Mesopotamian work emphasis on Sumerians, the Anunnaki and Babylonian Tradition for the "Mardukites", his work on the Dragon Legacy and modern Pheryllt Druid and Elven-Faerie tradition is also paramount. Recently, his writings even appeared in the third and final volume of the bestselling trilogy by Douglas Monroe, "The Deepteachings of Merlyn".

The Dragon Awaits !

Joshua Free has done it again. This incredible book is made of of writings by Llywelyn Sion, Iolo Morganwg, and Joshua Free. It is of course inspired by Douglas Monroe. Monroe and his pheryllt druidry is controversial in most druid circles. You either love or hate him. Free makes it clear in the description that he is NOT trying to pass this off as an exact replica or copy of the book Monroe claims to have, but rather has taken a in depth look into pheryllt druidry, the history behind it, and the mysteries surrounding it. The book includes a wide range of topics including but not limited to Pheryllt Magick and Dragon Energy, Cad Godeu, The Gorchan of Maeldrew, Hanes Taliesin, Elements of Druid Ritual and many other fascinating topics.

I'm sure many of those who dismiss Monroe will be quick to dismiss this work as well, but they shouldn't be. In fact I advise them to pick up a copy and explore these mysteries deeper than they previously have. As Free said " Alleged authorities on Druidry raise one hand screaming how these documents supporting an ancient Welsh Bardic Druid (and Pheryllt) tradition are a hoax, but with the other hand they borrow from these same sources for their own purposes".

Those with a love or interest in pheryllt druidry will most likely pick this up without even having to be advised to do so! The book is a gorgeous work both inside (including illustrations, charts, etc etc) and out. Joshua Free continues to push the boundaries, to make people think, and we love it! If you have even the slightest interest pick this up, you will not be sorry that you did! Though it may be a while I am already eagerly awaiting the second volume of this masterpiece! Come, the dragon awaits, the legend is real!

Mary King's 'Japan on Foot' is a worthy successor to Alan Booth's 'The Roads to Sata'

You might well think, 'This has been done before.' And it has. Alan Booth's 'The Roads to Sata' traced similar steps 30 years ago and for some is the benchmark, but 'Japan on Foot' is certainly equal to it. Mary King and her partner go one step beyond and end up in Okinawa (Booth stopped in Kyushu). There are similar tales of idiot country folk and beautiful, kind people the pair meet along the way. King even has showdowns with two bears. And there's also the minor subplot of the couple's 10-year relationship. But King weaves in some great background on Japan that makes this book required reading for anyone wanting to try and understand the country. A job well done.

Mary King writes with great detail, enthusiasm, and a clear passion for the project. And the adventures she had! This book is a great way to learn more about Japanese culture, independent travel, and the things humans are capable of.
