About the Author
After taking a trip to picturesque Little Lost River, Idaho, Kathi Oram Peterson wanted to make it the setting for one of her novels. She also wanted to people the story with unforgettable characters. Researching the Nez Perce and their legends and then visiting Ireland and learning about their folklore, she found the roots for two very strong main characters and created magical myths that added to both. With the combination of the setting and characters, this book about faith and rising above challenges came to life, and she is happy to share it with her fans. When her children finished school, Kathi earned her English degree at the University of Utah. She worked for several years writing and editing children's books for a curriculum publisher. Upon leaving the workforce, she turned her attention to writing novels. She currently resides in Salt Lake City.

A sweet romantic suspense with a twist.

Deceived was the first book of Peterson's that I've read, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Like any good suspense novel, there was a mystery (Tara couldn't remember how her aunt died), plenty of danger, suspense in not knowing who the villain is or when he/she will appear, and a climatic ending when almost all was lost. There was also an element of romance and a religious slant to this one.

I did have a few issues here and there. One was how quickly the two main characters fell in love. There were also a few inconsistencies in the characters. Then the ending didn't completely feel realistic and it tied up almost too perfectly.

There were also several things that I liked. I really liked Joseph. I liked how his background and experiences melded together to make him into the man he was. I liked how vulnerable and mixed up Tara was because it felt authentic. She would act that way after all she had been through and the other things influencing her. I loved Digger and Bear and Joseph's dog, Scrap. I liked that I wasn't completely sure who was behind everything until a certain phone call towards the end, although I had my suspicions.

Suspense novels should hold the reader in suspense until almost the end and this one definitely did that. Deceived was overall a sweet, suspenseful, inspirational, and enjoyable read.

A Wholesome Mystery/Romance YA Can Enjoy As Well As Adults!

Tara Kelly had experienced more tragedy in her lifetime than anyone should have endured. Now after witnessing a gruesome murder, her life was in danger.
Joseph White Eagle had experienced his own tragedy resulting in his leaving the police force and California to his father's ranch in Idaho. When is cousin and ex-fellow police officer, Max, asked him to provide protective custody of Tara, he could not refuse. In order to keep her identity a secret, he came up with a surprising reason for her being there. How were they going to convince family and close friends to believe the shocking revelation was true? Many complications and mysteries evolve, threatening the safety of all. Will Joseph financially and emotionally survive all that is suddenly happening? Why is it happening?
The title was well-chosen as was the Book Cover. They both gently caught one's eye. The background scenes were well-described. The characters immediately felt very real. The writing style flowed smoothly.
This is a pleasant drama but lacked energy. There were a few twists but, otherwise, it was fairly predictable. However, the mystery kept the reader's interest until the very end. I would still heartily recommend it to YA or Adult reading.

Deceived opens up with a pretty intense scene that caught my attention right away, and Tara's fuzzy memory about what happened kept me guessing. What really happened to her aunt? Had Tara pulled the trigger?

The romance was also a bonus to the story. Even though the novel only covers a short amount of time, with so much going on the romance felt natural instead of the "insta-love" you get in a lot of novels.

The characters, especially Tara, Joseph, Bear and Digger, were fun to get to know. The ranch setting mixed with the suspense of hiding out from a rogue cop, and someone trying to shut the ranch down held my attention. The inclusion of Indian and Irish tales also made for an interesting story.

Sadly, the resolution didn't do it for me. I didn't mind at all that the bad guy wasn't who I suspected (that surprise was great), but the motives and how things were executed were a bit over the top. Plus, in the intensity a few things only felt partially explained.

I am an avid reader and have always enjoyed writing. I am also a pediatrician and have brought some of my medical knowledge as well as other life experiences into this book. A riveting tale that brings the End Times to a personal level. Just as she does with the realistic characters in the book, the author challenges the reader to explore and evaluate what it is they truly believe. Whether you are someone steeped in faith, exploring, questioning, or a skeptic by nature, you will find this story entertaining from the beginning and thought-provoking long after you have turned the last page.

Excellent !

Great story of regular people who find themselves in the last days and needing to figure out what they truly believe. It is told from a pre-wrath (mid grub) rapture perspective. Whether you are a believer, non- believer, pre, mid ,post trib subscribers, hopefully this story will challenge you to ask yourself what do YOU believe..are you ready?

An Exciting Christian Page Turner

I loved this book as well. It's an interesting portrait of how our society could be in just a few years and what might happen if we face end times. The book is thoughtful and well researched biblically but also is a great page turner. Like most books, the first few chapters didn't grab me but once they did, I couldn't put it down and the excitement made it great fun.

Due to it's subject matter, it's also an important book. Do you know what the bible says about end times? What does that mean to you? What does your faith mean to you? Will you go to heaven? Why or why not? If those are questions you struggle with, Coming on the Clouds might be a fun way for you to wrestle with these questions.

Siete Maletas, Nuestras Anécdotas en el Exterior, de Michelle L. Hardy, es un libro de memorias que entre risas y lágrimas narra las experiencias de la familia de la autora en cinco países, durante un período de once años, desde 2003 hasta 2014. Comienza con el inicio de su blog personal, poco después del fuerte terremoto de Chile en febrero de 2010, mientras vivía en su cuarto país en el extranjero. Buscando encontrar un sentido a lo que ha vivido, la autora relata sus experiencias presentes y pasadas. Recuerda por ejemplo, el apagón del Noreste de Estados Unidos cuando vivía en New Jersey, los huracanes en Miami, el Cerro Ávila en Caracas, Venezuela, los paseos en Milán, Italia, las jacarandas en Guadalajara, México y los picos nevados de la majestuosa Cordillera Andina en Santiago, Chile. Sin embargo, el sol sobre el cual giran sus planetas son sus dos hijos, y por ello el libro está salpicado, tanto de anécdotas infantiles divertidas, como de las suyas como mamá, a veces haciendo las cosas bien, a veces haciendo las cosas mal.
Posteriormente la escritora se acuerda de su tatuaje, y retoma su significado, para darle un rumbo diferente, tanto a su quehacer diario, como a sus escritos. Comienza así un proceso de cambio de hábitos para tener un estilo de vida más simple (simplicidad voluntaria), amigable con la naturaleza (más verde, o ecológico) y minimalista (reduciendo la cantidad de bienes materiales). Luego deciden mudarse a Panamá solo con las maletas, por lo que pasan varios meses desprendiéndose de sus cosas y obteniendo insospechadas enseñanzas.
Llegan a Panamá en 2012, en donde, a pesar de ser un país tropical muy similar a su país de origen, se llevan shocks culturales de todo tipo. Más adelante, la proximidad de los cuarenta años, y luego la superación de esa fecha, la obligan a reflexionar sobre el paso del tiempo.
Siete Maletas también habla de la fragilidad de la vida y de los diferentes duelos por los que se atraviesan como ser humano en general (los personales) y como emigrante en particular, (el correspondiente a haber dejado un país que aún se ama instintivamente, así como los relacionados con otros países que se ha aprendido amar). Siete maletas es un libro muy humano, que te encantará leer.

Es venezolana y vive con su esposo, sus dos hijos y una gata, en una gran torre con vista al océano y sonidos de tambores, en Ciudad Panamá. Experiencias de carne y hueso

este libro es de todo lo que nos pasa en nuestros hogares todos los dias, solo que Michelle y sus hijos son mas ocurrentes que nosotros. Desde que conoci a esta escritora en persona no he dejado de admirarla y he aprendido a ser mas consciente de cosas como el minimalismo, la simplicidad, el reciclaje y la poesia.

Qué libro tan rico!

Digo rico por enriquecedor y por sabroso de leer! Lei este libro de a poquitos, sabiendo que es el resultado de la compilación de un blog. Se puede leer y releer! Todo emigrante debe leerlo (y si es venezolano, ni hablar...), todo padre, esposo o esposa, toda persona preocupada por el ambiente, estoy segura que se sentirá identificado con mucho de lo que describe Michelle con tan buena pluma. Invita a sonreir, a reir a carcajadas, a compartir tristezas, y tambien a la reflexion, a repensarse situaciones y sentimientos. Lo tengo lleno de bookmarks!

If you want to understand the book of Revelation you MUST first read the Old Testament book of Daniel. It is imperative to read Daniel because he was given visions and dreams that were explained by Jesus Himself and the angel Gabriel. Chapter 2 reveals the empires to come and points toward the Revelation of Jesus Christ. By the way, Antiochus Epiphanes was not the power spoken of in Daniel chapter 9. Modern Bible scholars fail to realize that he was on the scene for only 12 years and was far, far, too early to have any part in the "abomination of desolation" spoken of in chapter 9. Look back to chapter 2 and note when the "Rock cut out without hands" hits the metal man: at the toes of the feet which means beyond the legs of iron—pagan Rome—and past the European Union with Papal Rome. This is Christ's second coming.

If you want an excellent and accurate read on history and the events to come read The Great Controversy by Ellen G. White. But, have your Bible nearby!

It is hard to read Revelations on your own and understand it. You can do it and get somethings out of it, but not enough.
It says that the reader is blessed by reading it, but you don't feel that way without this commentary and notes. With them, it is truly enlightening and changes your thinking and understanding. It is Christian education at its best.

Taking a worthless Bible class on Revelations led by dimwits and speculators is an awful experience. Lots of crazy talk on Revelations. This is different. You are on your way to being a mature Christian by reading this.

It is amazing how badly taught many of us are and what a dismal job our Christian leaders do regarding our understanding of true Christian doctrine. They are to blame for the rise in cults and the lack of understanding of what the Bible is all about. Read Revelations and see the warning they are given. More should be expected of them and is.

With John Wesley you can educate yourself. Then you can educate your children which is what the family is expected to do. Don't leave it to others.

Oh the many, many feels!

"Our goal is this and only this: Saving Poughkeepsie."

Man, oh, man!

I'm still reeling from all the things that happened, that went down in this book. Ms Anastasia needs to give me a lot of hugs - she even offered her bosom to me - because I'm left empty. Drained up. I got teary-eyed, I laughed and melted. Not to mention, chewed on my nails because there were quite some angsty scenes.

So, Beckett and Eve are happy together but it can easily be taken away from them because Rodolfo Vitullo, the man whose daughter Eve killed in Return to Poughkeepsie, wants Eve for a very sick plan of his. Of course he doesn't succeed because Eve is just that bad*ss, but nobody knows the old bastard finds another way to getting what he wants. And he comes this close to succeeding in that one.

Poughkeepsie becomes safe again, slowly but surely. It becomes a safe haven for misfits, just like in Maryland - Beckett realized ruling with an iron fist and putting the fear into people wasn't the way to go, so he tried with loyalty.

There's a peaceful period, after some things that went down - I either teared-up because of the aw-moments or because of the sad ones, but nonetheless, tear up, I did - and then everything blows up.

I can't even explain all of this, without giving something away. Every detail is important, everything they do. Beckett, once again, places everyone else above himself. That man is something unbelievable and he's a thousand kinds of amazing! I'll only say this, that bastard has a romantic side that turned me to mush. He evolved and changed so much, throughout the series. All of them did, but I think this change is most noticeable at him because he rose from the drug lord and pimp ruler, to the pseudo-saint that wants what's best for his family and his people. Just you read and see for yourself.

I knew reading this book would be bittersweet. I knew it. I was also lucky enough to read an early copy of it, for which I will be forever grateful! This series is different, it combines so many things, friendship, family, deep bonds that do not need blood to be created and kept. It's just wow and awesome.

"You like it when I'm all fired up and jealous?"
"It's so f***ing sexy I can't take it."
"Maybe I need to remind you who you belong to."
"Please."

5 +++ stars. I'll be rereading this series many times because I'll miss these characters. I may not have met them, back when the very first book was published, I may be a recent fan, but I do know that I fell and I fell hard. There's no going back now.

P.S. It may be the end of an era, but it's the beginning of a new one.

P.P.S. My dream came true, in the epilogue. Technically, before that. Read it and maybe you'll figure it out.

Hold on to your hats….this book was quite the adventure. Let me start by saying that Debra Anastasia knows how to write a book/series that keeps you wanted more of these characters. Saving Poughkeepsie is book 3 in her Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series and I have to say I loved each one of them equally. This is an AMAZING series. What I loved about this book and the others was that we got so much more than just one story. This was more of three stories in one. Debra's writing is flawless and engaging. This book sucked me in as soon as I started it and didn't let go until it was done. Saving Poughkeepsie was a continuation of Beckett and Eve's story but we still got to see Blake and Livia and Kyle and Cole's story play out. These three brother's lives are so entwined that you can't really tell the story without telling all their stories.

I loved the direction that she took with this story. I can honestly say I didn't see it coming and I haven't read anything like this before. I won't be telling any secrets about the storyline, just know it will keep you turning the page. I am also glad to say that my love for Beckett is still just as strong as it was in the first two books. Beckett was just as raw and gritty in this book as before, but I was glad to say that we also got to see another side of him that made me love him even more ;) I also enjoyed watching Eve and Beckett grow stronger in this book. They truly are each other soul mates.

As I said before we also got to follow the journey of Blake, Livia, Kyle and Cole in all three of these books. I was so glad that we got to continue on with their stories as well, sometimes in series we lose previous characters or are only given small glimpses into their futures. That is not the case with this series. There is NO way to tell one story without telling the others.

I know that this review is pretty repetitive and vague, but I truly believe that this is the type of series you need to go into blind. I would definitely recommend every one of these books. If you are looking for an interesting storyline with amazing characters and is nothing like you've read before….Then pick up this series….You won't be sorry :)

A gorgeous series conclusion! (Non-spoiler review)

After reading book 2, I wondered how the hell Debra Anastasia was going to conclude the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood series. One couple in particular seemed to have so much stacked against them. Well, this series concludes in an epic way…EPIC I tell you!

The themes of brotherhood, friendship, and family continue to be ever present in Saving Poughkeepsie. I think this is one of the reasons why this series has a huge fan base. People relate to and care for these characters in some way. In the midst of all the pain and tragedy, they just want to know if everything will be ok.

In this installment, evil is wrecking havoc all over. Boy, does this person have HUGE, unbelievable plans! For each couple, Ms. Anastasia has lovingly crafted special moments that made me swoon to the stars! So much love and devotion is expressed for Blake and Livia. Although hinted in the summary, Cole and Kyle get to experience happiness tenfold, but there’s so much more that goes down you’ll have to read it to find out what happens. Finally, there is Beckett and Eve. I was weary on how things would conclude for these two, but it was pulled off in such a way that only Debra Anastasia can write it! Beckett is such a bad boy (who is trying to be good) and Eve’s biggest dream seemed so impossible to achieve. Ms. Anastasia gave them a roller-coaster journey throughout the entire series, and more so in this book. What a wild and twisted plot filled with humor, love, and suspense!

The Poughkeepsie Brotherhood series is best appreciated when read in order. Saving Poughkeepsie is a MUST READ for fans. You will love it!!!

Although I’m sad that the series has concluded, these characters will live on strong in my heart. Thank you, Debra Anastasia, for telling this gorgeous story and taking me on quite the journey to Poughkeepsie!

About the Author
Barb Asselin is a college professor and best-selling author who has published books in many different genres including education, cooking, crafts, law, real estate, internet marketing, entrepreneurship, baby sign language, fitness, office administration, children’s fiction and children’s non-fiction. Barb loves crafts and can often be found with her two daughters in her “craft room” finding a new project to either start or complete. She has been crocheting since her Nanny Short taught her how to chain while she was in grade school. Since she began teaching in 2004, Barb has taught in six different programs within the School of Business and has created numerous online courses for Algonquin College including the Virtual Assistant program. She loves to teach through her courses, books, and textbooks, and strives to make a connection with each student and reader. Barb lives in Canada with her husband, Mike, and two adorable daughters, Casey and Jamie. They enjoy music, skiing, golfing, running, and mixed martial arts.

These crafts are really great. You have to get this book!

Would you like to get the entire family involved during this Christmas season? This book is a great way to do it. Since my two grown daughters work outside the home, I'm going to supervise as three of my grandchildren make most if not all these crafts projects. I can't wait to start since I'm just a kid at heart. Take a look inside the book and see all the crafts listed here. Barb Asselin must have a lot of children or else she's a kid at heart too.

Great book!

Another great book from Barb Asselin on Christmas crafts. This one has lots of creative craft ideas to make by yourself or with the kids. I plan on making the mug O'gingerbread man. They look amazing and easy enough to make. It will be great gift this Christmas. I will also try to make my own gingerbread house this year and have the kids decorate it. I usually buy an already made one but the recipe presented in the book looks easy enough for me to try. I really like the way the author describes the crafts. The instructions are well written, clear and easy to follow. Great book to own to make your own Christmas crafts.

All the Guidance you Need

I am a craft fanatic and jumped on this book for new ideas. I think making your own gifts is a fine tradition and a great family pastime, so I say a resounding yes. The book gives you all the guidance you need to do anything from a cool gingerbread house to a wooden snowman. The angel ornament will tempt the girls and dad will love the apple cider. There are the usual Christmas stockings, but also a cute "sucker tree" and nice pinecone wreath. You can't every go wrong with cookies.
