A deep and multi-layered book....

I am sorry to say that my short review here will not be able to do justice to Paul Doron's lovely book on the work of Moshe Feldenkrais. The reason, quite simply, it that this is a book that I am reading very slowly and savoring. Feldenkrais' work to me has always been about psychological and emotional freedom - about independence of body, spirit and mind. And to that end, I like to take my time and consider Feldenkrais's ideas as they apply to the development of the individual as an individual....and to the limits - whatever they may be to us "human primates" who live embedded in multiple social contexts. I am enjoying this book and getting a great deal out of it. I think you will too.

Cerebral Palsy Recovery vs. Management

Paul Doron comes to the Feldenkrais field from a special angle, having himself been a patient (or rather "student") of Moshe Feldenkrais, arguably giving Paul a unique understanding of cerebral palsy and its treatment. Likewise, Moshe Feldenkrais himself developed the Feldenkrais method following a debilitating knee injury. Reading about Paul's own personal and sincere account of his astonishing recovery using the Feldenkrais method is incredible and motivating - Paul would almost certainly not be able to walk today without the Feldenkrais method. This book provides a great service by demonstrating to us the power of the Feldenkrais method to unleash the body's untapped potential to RECOVER from cerebral palsy (vs. conventional treatments which are typically considered "management"), and is of course relevant to anyone with an interest in motor disorders in general.

Beautifully inspired creation

Here is the deal if you are looking for advice on how to choose your wedding dress this is a book to add to your collection. It basically gives you a break down of the different styles and cut of wedding dresses and what works with what. If you are a novice in terms of garment construction and the cut that are used to classify styles, no worries this book helps you along with detailed description of what is what. This I know helps with the decision process especially if you have the malady or asset of(Depends on whose perspective you get) being busty like my self.

What I really loved about this book is that the author provides links to bridal sites to consider when searching for a dress. This is a tremendous help. Not having to do the hunt all by your lonesome. Then of course the sweetest of all are all the beautiful gowns displayed. Talk about eye candy, Wow!

Weddings: Wedding Dresses reminds me of "Say Yes to the Dress!"

My daughter LOVES anything to do with wedding dress design. Of course she "oohed and ahh'd" with the fantabulous pictures in this book. I did too - although I'm just window shopping - don't plan on making that walk again! Lol

The author lays this picture guide book out nicely. With every style of gown you can imagine! The links are great too if you want more information. Along with oodles of tips and tricks to make your day run seamlessly.

Bottom line is, if you plan on walking down the isle one day, I suggest you let this book inspired your Princess wedding day! Excellent!

The Photographs are amazing!!

The photographs are amazing! Sam Siv mentions every style of wedding dress complete with his recommendations for which body types, age should wear that style and amazing photographs for examples. I didn't even know there was such a style as sheath. I enjoyed reading the history bit too and was surprised to find white has not always been the color of wedding dresses. Sam Siv discusses brides may no longer stick to white and gives celebrity who have followed that new trend. This is a complete guide to wedding dress, providing brides with the knowledge to know what style is best before they shop. I definitely recommend it to all brides.

Timely and humbling

Sacred Space paints a perfect picture of what this world is today for so many Christians. We can't see the forest for the trees. We don't take time to experience God's grace and allow it to work in our lives. This book was timely for me as I finished it from a hotel room in Las Vegas while on a business trip for the Consumer Electronics Show. The very devices and gadgets and distractions that keep us from being still, all on display for us to sell to our customers. All of which keep us entertained with what the world demands from us. This book is timely for society today and humbling in that it shows us all those things that draw us away from God. We probably don't even notice how distracting our lives are. Or maybe we do, but feel obligated to continue. I echo the author's plea. Be still, find your sacred space, your sacred speech, and sacred ear. I will.

This book is a good reminder that I need to power down and new ...

The very devices, gadgets, apps and other distractions that keep me from having that important and sacred time with God is often what keeps my blog going. Another factor is that social media is entertaining and draws me away from the pressures of my day to day life. I needed to be reminded that those very things draw me away from God. This book is a good reminder that I need to power down and new my life through Christ.

The concept of carving out specific time and space for reflection with God is what we all need and crave. I appreciated the fact that the author, John Duncan, was upfront and honest about his personal struggles. I also appreciated the vulnerability he shows in his own life. This book is very timely for me and for society at large.

"We could not put it down!"

My wife and I read the book in about three days together. We could not put it down. It came to us at a moment of trust with God, and was a cool breeze to our spirits. We were both encouraged to dig deeper and rest in the Lord. I wholeheartedly believe that the idea of carving out space and time to reflect with Jesus is what every soul craves. John Duncan was upfront and honest about his personal struggles. It was refreshing to see the vulnerability and honesty of his own life. My wife, a former English teacher, was impressed with his writing style and how he brought in a multitude of quotes and insights from many genres. It is a well rounded book and and easy read. If you desire for your soul to be revived and encouraged, spend some time with you and Jesus and read this book.

Ok Starting Point, Iffy On Whether You Could Pass on Only This

This book is a good start but ultimately should NOT be the only thing you're using to study. The book touches on a lot of the basics but is seriously lacking in the vital details that could make or break your ability to pass the exam. I like that it has the prescription/order abbreviations, the most common medications, and a little bit about their use, it covers a little about the organizations that regulate the pharmacy practice, etc. but here's where it really lacks: The math practice is minimal it would do some good to have more practice in areas such as converting between units. More information on hospital pharmacies is needed, such as crash cart drugs. The compounding section is too vague and additional study is needed on cleaning/maintenance of compounding equipment, etc. More information is also needed on supplements and what interactions some types of drugs/supplements might have. All-in-all an ok place to start but do not count on it as your only means of studying!

Getting ready to take PTCB

This book has been so helpful. I have been using this for about a month as well as other sources to prepare for the exam and after taking several practice tests and quizzes I feel ready and plan to take the test in a couple of days. The book packed in a lot of information, however, it is very organized and set up to follow the blueprint of the exam. I wish all of you the best. Study, study, study, pray and you will do well.

Awesome!!!!! I used this book and passed the PTCB with a 90.4%!!!
The only complaint I have is that there was one very specific question that asked about a hospital crash cart that I didn't know, but other than that it is very comprehensive!

I've walked around Bayliss Park, and this is the most detailed and realistic portrayal of walking around Bayliss Park that has ever been written. This riveting and gritty historical text takes the reader through an epic journey across the vast acres of Bayliss Park where danger and mystery lurks around every corner. The author's writing style is absolutely mesmerizing and so filled with obscure historical facts that you'll feel that you're reading the script for Ken Burn's latest PBS film series. I can't wait for Ryan Roenfeld's next book "Pacific Junction: At Least It's Not Glenwood".

I read this as we were en route to Thailand and it definitely affected decisions we made!!!! It was great to have the heads up and learnt a great deal about how Thai culture is vastly different from Western so you can easily misunderstand gestures or situations! Initially, I did wonder why the hell we were going there, but stupidity does seem to play a part, such as drink driving. Nonetheless, we were unaware of the high death stats in Thailand and how much is swept under the carpet. Even more shocking is how the authorities assume how people have died, no autopsy in some cases, and will put suicide down despite overwhelming evidence to suggest it was not! An extremely important read, this highlights huge problems, not just affecting tourists but the people themselves such as human trafficking. Media silence is shocking, so people like the author and the journalists at Phuketwan, deserve medals!!!

April 28, 2016What is interesting is that tourists keep flocking to Thailand in ever-greater numbers.That the number of Australian tourists is down slightly over the first quarter of 2016 means little to nothing to T.A.T. (Tourist Authority of Thailand) - as long as the Chinese keep coming in ever-increasing numbers, all is well.

But at least 35 Chinese drowned on Phuket alone in 2015 - so you better believe that the official Thai tourist deaths (around 90) reported in 2015 by T.A.T. is utter BUNK. Why the mirage? That's the million dollar question! And we all know the answer!Regular Thais are generally left in the dark. I have a very rich Thai relative by marriage - the 40 year old owns a huge aluminum plant in Bangkok, and was educated in Australia.When I asked him if he was aware that Thailand had the second most dangerous roadways in the world by statistic (and these statistics are skewed way low by the way -rendering Thailand with the most dangerous roadways in the world) - he had no bloody idea. He said.. "Noooo..really?" 

And you have to be very careful when you tell Thais the truth - and it doesn't fit their perception,hence their reality - 'cause the truth hurts, and Big Faces get lost - a deadly proposition in Thailand. It boggles the mind. Just ask Andrew Drummond about that one.. He was forced to leave the country for telling the truth..and his website is still blocked in Thailand most of the time..

Don't get me wrong, I like Thai people, but something is grossly amiss in the LOS..

Thailand's roads second deadliest in the world: World Health Organization  October 21, 2015 Thailand has earned the dubious distinction as the country with the second most dangerous roads in the world.
According to the 2015 Global Status Report of Road Safety by the World Health Organization (WHO), 14,059 people were killed in Thailand by road accidents in 2012 which is about 36.2 people per 100,000 -- the second highest rate in the world.

To put that in perspective, that's about 39 people per day who die on our country's treacherous roads.

With 32,476,977 vehicles registered in Thailand, riders of motorcycles and three-wheelers are by far the largest group to be killed in road accidents (73%) followed by passengers of 4-wheeled cars (7%) and drivers of 4-wheeled cars (6%).
This might result from the lack of safety precautions. WHO noted that Thailand's national seat-belt law only applies to the driver and passenger in the front seats. The study finds that only 58% of drivers and 54% of front seat occupants use a seatbelt.
As many residents rely on motorcycle-taxis, which usually don't provide a helmet for their passengers, the helmet-wearing rate shockingly falls to only 20% for passengers and 52% for the drivers.
As for drunk-driving, 26% of all road deaths can be attributed to alcohol.
Meanwhile, Libya scored the highest percentage with 73.4 deaths per 100,000 people and the African region continued to have the highest road traffic death rates. Europe has the lowest death rate as many of its high-income countries have been found successful at achieving and sustaining reductions in death rates.
Globally, an estimate of 1.25 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes. Road traffic death rates in low- and middle-income countries are more than double those in the high-income countries.
"Road traffic fatalities take an unacceptable toll - particularly on poor people in poor countries," says Dr. Margaret Chan, Director-General of WHO.
However, the number of road traffic deaths is stabilizing even though the number of motor vehicles worldwide has increased rapidly, as has the global population. Informative. Tedious. Helpful.

It is really informative. However, the book is too long. I try to finish every book that I start reading and this book seems to take forever.
I could have finished reading two novels with the same time frame.

This book tells the readers all we need to know about the dangers in Thailand. (Death by Traffic, Electricity, Law Enforcement (or the lack of), Scams, Prisons, and more) The author has a new book came out in 2016 with the title "Of Unnatural Causes: Too Many Tourists Die in Thailand". Both book seem to have similar content. I wonder what is the difference.

Through another book about Thailand, Allan Dudson wrote in "Walking the wild side: The life of a sex tourist". That book briefly mentioned two murder cases on foreigners happened in front of the author, Allan Dudson, during his visit to Thailand. And he was only a tourist. Both murder cases were triggered by arguments among local Thai and foreigners. People sometimes don't realize it is a big issue when foreign tourists are killed (accidentally or not) in Thailand.

Bottom line is this book is really helpful to tourists who want to visit Thailand.

I felt very much out on a limb when I wrote Thailand: Deadly Destination. I am very pleased to see this work published. As the author says, if his efforts save one life the book was worth it. He is correct that tourists die in Thailand every day of the year. However there has been very little serious work done on the worst scandal in the annals of modern tourism, the high death rate and large number of mishaps befalling foreigners while on Thai soil. D. Farang may not be a professional writer, but he does a much better job than most journalists who visit Thailand; they are on junkets funded by the tourist industry itself and write nothing but syrupy copy about how fabulous their hotel was; entirely ignoring the mayhem on the streets. By failing to warn visitors about the realities of Thailand they are part of an industry which is luring naive tourists to their deaths. Fore-warned may be fore-armed, as the author writes, but you don't have to be behaving badly or stupidly to get into trouble in Thailand. Many ordinary tourists, be they young backpackers looking for a place to party and relax, families, or older tourists with a twinkle in their eye, find themselves being threatened, blackmailed, bashed, drugged, robbed and killed.

Thailand is an ever fascinating country with an intriguing culture and many stunning landscapes. But the environmental degredation, social dislocation and increasing alienation between Thais and foreigners caused by the greed and mismanagement of the nation's tourist industry has been sad to witness. That Thailand can be a very dangerous place is not in doubt; and while the author uses a pseudonym, as he spends a good deal of time in Thailand I would strongly advise him to remove his image from the internet. He is correct Thai authorities deliberately suppress bad news about deaths and misadventures befalling foreigners; but many other countries are complicit in the scandal. For instance, outrageously the US State Department, which collects vast amounts of data about every country on Earth, officially refuses to release statistics on the number of Americans dying in Thailand each year. The author is entirely correct when he writes: "Violent attacks, substandard road infrastructure, killings resulting from cultural misunderstandings, foreigner suicides, suppression of fatality figures and lax safety standards have all ratcheted up safety concerns in Thailand. An indirect, albeit dire warning has been issued to tourists! The warning doesn't come from Thai Tourism, but from reported and unreported fatalities, from the cry of hapless victims that didn't see it coming, and from the many foreign governments and embassies urging the Thai government to act."
