I was very pleased with this purchase. The 9 foot by 6 foot six inch map arrived well packaged in a shipping tube and came with a decent set of instructions.
It was in three separate sheets which need to be very carefully aligned on the wall so that the details (roads, rivers and so on) all line up. Be aware that you will need to trim the adjoining edges. That's a simple task with a sharp utility knife and a straightedge.
The map is printed on substantial paper stock. To apply wallpaper adhesive We laid each section of the map face down on a sheet of plywood sitting on sawhorses. Then we applied a section to the wall using a wide wallpaper brush to smooth out the bubbles. It was not
difficult to move it around on the wall to get it aligned exactly. There were a lot of very small irregularities after we
had finished. But they had almost all disappeared by the next day as the adhesive dried out. We ran a small roller (actually an old furniture caster) up and down the seams as a finishing touch.
This was a new experience for us, but even as amateurs, it was a big success. We just had to take our time and be very
careful. Thinking ahead and planning each move is essential.
It is a fantastic mural for a kid's bedroom wall,an office or garage.

Great map for road warriors

I bought this for our office as a wall decoration and a planning tool. The amount of detail was more than I expected. Very small towns were depicted in some areas, and most (if not all) of the state highways are shown too. The fabric seems sturdy enough. I had a hard time hanging it on the wall, though, but that is mostly due to the size and weight of the map.

Take the time to lay everything out beforehand and recognize that you will spend at least $20 on wallpaper adhesive and any other standard wallpaper/painting supplies you might not have, but if done correctly it looks great! Very nice addition to my office.

The fourth entry in Breakfield and Burkey’s (The Enigma Ignite, 2014, etc.) techno-thriller series pits the R-Group against a seemingly untraceable computer virus and what could be a full-scale digital assault.

A series of cyberattacks targets an Irish bank, a Texas winery and a hydroelectric dam in Brazil, among other places. They also attract the R-Group, an organization specializing in information gathering and analysis. The rogue code leaves messages behind, calling itself the Ghost Code, before apparently wiping clear any evidence of its existence. Jacob, his love, Petra, and the rest of the team believe these attacks are indicative of “training exercises” that precede a much larger strike. The R-Group’s involvement becomes personal when Juan’s plane is hacked; there’s a possibility that he’s dead after communication is lost. Juan’s brother Carlos and Juan’s newly pregnant lover, Julie, go undercover to stop Zara, a beautiful cyberassassin, who may play a part in the Ghost Code and who, interestingly enough, could pass for a Petra doppelgänger. The authors’ latest novel—their fastest-paced yet—dives headfirst into the plot and maintains an engaging mystery based on the R-Group’s investigation. The person responsible for the Ghost Code, they discover, is Mephisto, corresponding with hacker Callisto, though the true identities behind the handles aren’t initially clear. There’s a veritable hodgepodge of characters, most of whom are returning, but the authors include context for new readers without weighing the story down with a laborious retread. As in prior novels, characters are colorful and indelible. Zara is particularly engrossing. She was a dominatrix at a young age, which instilled in her an obsessive desire for control. There’s even a sex scene with Zara in which she humiliates her bodyguard, Dante; while it’s evident what’s happening, the scene manages to be as subdued as the rest of the novel, with few vulgar words. The main plot ends with over 50 pages remaining, so while the coda might have been better were it truncated, it once again leaves room for another sequel.

Another stellar installment. Breakfield and Burkey show no signs of slowing down in an ever improving series.

A fan of travel, cultural exchanges, and wine tastings, he also enjoys writing, studying World War II history, and developing his woodworking skills.

Roxanne E Burkey holds a master’s degree in information systems and is employed at a high-tech manufacturer, where she enjoys improving customer experiences with technology and discovering the gaps that technology can fill. She lives in Texas with her family and likes to spend her free time gardening, hiking, sewing, refinishing antiques, wine tasting, traveling, and playing with her newest puppy. when you aren't chuckling at some of the funny acronyms and escapades

A dazzling masterpiece of cunning and wit, these protagonists will keep you on the edge of your seats, when you aren't chuckling at some of the funny acronyms and escapades! I don't know how these authors manage to keep each book exciting and fresh with
intriguing plots and characters that you continue to care about. I give it 5 stars!

I do not understand how the authers can come up with fresh plots that keep me turning " just one more page" before closing the book. I adore the cherocters and love watching them grow threw the books. I love that I never know what is coming or how things will end. As always I am looking for the next book. I am hooked!

Still among the best

I read this book when it first came out in paperback in the 1960s, when I was a middle school student. It made a profound impact on me at the time. I recently saw it in basically the same Bantam mass market paperback edition I'd bought in the '60s (though without the photos and map contained in the '60s version, even though the price had increased five-fold in the interim). I re-read it again primarily out of curiosity, simply to see what I thought of it forty years later.
Despite having read many dozens of books on WWII in the intervening years, I was wowed by Toland's account all over again. Toland was a master storyteller, not an academic or military historian as such, and had a novelist's understanding of the illuminating detail, the minor tragedy emblematic of the whole, and the reader's fascination with the character of people acting under the most extreme duress imaginable.
Toland weaves together numerous narrative threads of the highest diplomacy (FDR, Churchill, and Stalin at Yalta), the lowest farce (the goings on of Hitler and his bizarre entourage in Hitler's underground bunker), and endless violent encounters -- between enemy forces, and between military forces and the huge masses of civilians fleeing the fighting or trapped in cities under ferocious bombardment.
While the book is populated with the brave and noble, at high levels and low, it is also frequented by monsters, knaves, cowards, innocent victims, and thugs on all sides (though the Germans, of course, were peerless in the scope and cruelty of their barbarities). This is not the place to go if you are looking for "the good war." This book gave me my first deep insight into why my uncle (now deceased, but at the time I first read this book younger than I am now), who had served as a rifleman in the 8th Infantry Division in Europe, seldom could be persuaded to talk about the war.
Toland's work was also somewhat unusual, when first published, in its lack of triumphalism. The atmosphere which permeates The Last 100 Days is not that of the impending victory of the good, or the impending defeat of the evil -- although the end of the war in Europe was certainly both -- but of immense tragedy and the dawning awareness that at the end of the war, the world was going to remain an exceedingly dangerous place, as the unnatural marriage of necessity between the Western powers and Stalin's Soviet Union came to an end.
Toland's narrative method has been adopted and adapted in other's subsequent works (Toland doubtless borrowed elements of it from others before him as well), but few have been his equal. And having read all of John Toland's several excellent books at one time or another, I am convinced that this book was his best. On the mountain of books on WWII, The Last 100 Days belongs near the top. This book should remain in print for a long time to come because it is great history, powerfully told.

Or how the Russians got their revenge

The last 100 days of the Nazi regime have long remained clouded by the fact that it was the Soviet armies that reached Berlin first and afterwards controlled the information surrounding the end of it all. Until things had settled down, and let's not forget that they only ever partially settled down (Patton's cry of "Let's push on to Moscow," still rings in one's ears), little or no information was available to the Western press about the successful Russian attack against the German capital. John Toland's "The Last 100 Days," first published in 1966, was therefore a welcome addition to the growing literature on the end of the regime. Perhaps the most interesting sections of the book deal with the taking of Berlin and the stubborn defence offered by the citizenry (both old men and boys were killed at the barricades). For American readers, there is no doubt that the race for Berlin is of greater interest still. With the fastidious Bernard Montgomery apparently holding up the progress of U.S. army corps, it was a time of grand confusion. No one wanted to be restrained from the final fruits of victory. Impatient army commanders resented every delay, while at home, political leaders tried to balance the final thrust to victory against the prospect of further warfare in Europe, once the Germans were beaten. And of course, beyond the first difficulties in East/West relations, there remained Japan to be beaten in the Pacific.
All the main characters have their turn on Toland's stage, whether they be American and Russian generals calculating the mileage separating them from their goal, or high-ranking Nazis twisting and turning in the net that is slowly closing around them. A fast-paced book, matching the tempo of the times, "The Last 100 Days" is one of the best books about the end of the Second World War to be published so far.

Wonderful read wonderfully written

John Toland is a master. I have read three of his books on WWII and each is a masterpiece in its own right. "The Last 100 Days" is a perfect example. I couldn't put this book down. I have little time to read for fun but when I get my hands on a book like this my time flies!!! "The Last 100 Days" cover exactly that, from a multitude of perspectives: Soldiers: German, Russian, English, and American; leaders; and civilians. It's a story that could have only been told this way by someone with Toland's talents. His words always seem to come alive and "100 Days" is not different from other works of his I have read ("Battle" and "Adolf Hitler"). Despite the fact that I am pretty versed with WWII and the end of the ETO,fall of Berlin, etc., I was on the edge of my seat reading this book. It wasn't so much from new content but just in the way Toland tells the story. I highly recommend this book to both beginners and seasoned buffs alike. Its wonderful reading!!!

Apasionante biografía de este gran héroe, inmortalizado por su victoriosa actuación en la batalla de Ayacucho, el 9 de diciembre de 1824, en el Perú, donde pronunció la célebre arenga "Paso de Vencedores" y finalmente fuera asesinado al haberse opuesto a las aspiraciones monárquicas de Simón Bolívar. Contiene anécdotas y datos históricos. Córdova fue general de los ejércitos de Colombia, Ecuador, Perú y Bolivia.
La biografía está basada en la novela, del mismo autor, "Córdova entre la bruja y la Muerte."
Contiene sus incomparables acciones de valor, en los llanos venezolanos, el cruce del páramo de Pisba, las batalla del Pantano de Vargas y Boyacá, con las cuales se diera independencia a Colombia; la campaña del bajo Magdalena y las batallas de Pichincha, Junín y Ayacucho. Sus frustrados amores con Fanny Henderson. Así como también su actitud de someterse voluntariamente a un juicio acomodaticio que se le seguía en Bogotá.
La parte final de la biografía relata los pormenores de su asesinato, perpetrado por el irlandés Ruperto Hand, en cumplimiento de órdenes del general inglés Daniel F. O'Leary.
Córdova es uno de los principales héroes de esta difícil etapa de la historia de las colonias de España.
El libro es de imprescindible lectura para quien desee saber cómo sucedieron las batallas de la Independencia, en una época cuando el caballo era el principal medio de transporte y valioso elemento en los combates.
Por méritos militares, principalmente en los campos de batalla, le valieron para ser ascendido a general, a la edad de 23 años.
Aún estaba cubierto el campo combate de Ayacucho con el humo victorioso de las armas patriotas, cuando Sucre le impuso los soles de general de división.
Córdova recorrió a caballo más de cinco mil kilómetros, desde Venezuela hasta Bolivia y cruzó los Andes cuatro veces, en cuatro países. Hazaña que hoy nos parece insuperable.
No obstante que siempre estuvo en la primera línea, únicamente fue herido en la última batalla.
Los principios que inspiraban su vida resisten el paso del tiempo: el amor a la patria, a la familia y a la libertad. Su lealtad a estos ideales va desde cuando iniciara su carrera militar como cadete en la academia de Rionegro hasta el último aliento de su corta existencia.
También era ejemplar el amor por su madre, a quien donaba los pocos sueldos que el gobierno a veces le pagaba, no obstante que esto le imponía vivir pobremente.

Espectacular y maravillosa, novela, agradable y rápida de leer, apasionante para los militares que nos gusta y debemos conocer la historia, porque quien no la conoce esta condenado a repetirla, y lo mas importante que nos muestra con una gran claridad la verdad del asesinato del Héroe de la Batalla de Ayacucho, JOSE MARIA CORDOVA, un héroe de todos los tiempos, y donde se rescatan las virtudes del valor, el arrojo y la lealtad. Felicitaciones al Autor y el regalo que nos dio para bajar el libro el día de la Infanteria. "PASO DE VENCEDORES"

Espléndido libro, muy bien documentado te atrapa de comienzo a final. Te transporta en el tiempo a los maravillosos acontecimientos que nos brindaron la libertad. Resalta y hace justicia a la vida y logros de este GRAN GENERAL Y PATRIOTA LIBERTADOR. Solo los conocedores de la historia salvan a las naciones de repetirla.

True to Ken Davis' usual, this book is a true gift. Not only because the humor brings anything from a smile to a belly laugh, but because the spiritual message zaps you. I recommend this to everyone....even those who lack a sense of humor. Maybe this book could fix that for you. By the way, I think it would make a excellent gift to someone you know.

What it was like to patrol a violent city in the 70's

I had the pleasure of being a police officer for the city of Compton and served Compton PD for nearly ten years. I subsequently made a lateral movement to a nearby police department, due to the fact that Compton PD was about to be patrolled by LASD. I finished with that department after an additional 21 years of service. The Ghetto Cops was written before I started with Compton PD, however I read the book when it was first written. I had the book for about five years. I let several of my friends read it. The pages turned yellow and pages fell out when I finally got the book back.
I subsequently discovered Ghetto Cops returned, via my Kindle and I quickly ordered it. I was delighted to read the book again. It has been somewhere over 30 years since I last read it. I remembered most of the officers in the book, having the pleasure to work alongside them. Most of the best officers that I met, or worked with, came from Compton PD ( I served 31 years in LE). I really enjoyed reading the book and it brought back many memories. I found that working in Compton was part of the "greatest show on earth." I recommend Ghetto Cops. I also would like to recommend "Vice," by John Rick Baker. "Vice" is also an excellent book about being a cop for Compton PD.

Forty years have passed, but still spellbinding

As one who worked in Compton as a young process server during the exact time this book was being researched, I can vouch for the accuracy of Mr. Henderson's observations. The book (or Kindle) is hard to put down, as there is one great chapter after another. My only criticisms are that Mr. Henderson made up some of the street names -- he indeed used some true street names, mostly major thoroughfares, but changed others by substituting non-existent street names/numbers -- and that he waited forty years to release this book!

Great Read

If the dates were removed from the book you would have no idea it portrays the seventies . Ghetto Cops could easily be the story of any urban enclave in America today . You really get a feeling for what it's like to live and work in a very dicey environment. Very few people have experienced a world in which an off duty cop has to wear a gun while cutting his lawn because he fears attacks from gang members . Great read.
