The night of May 16, 1943. Nineteen specially adapted Lancaster bombers take off from an RAF airfield in Lincolnshire, England, each with a huge nine-thousand-pound cylindrical bomb strapped underneath it. Their mission: to head deep into the German heartland and destroy three hydroelectric dams that power the Third Reich's war machine.

From the outset it was an almost impossible task, a suicide mission. First the men had to fly extremely low, at night, and in tight formation over miles of enemy-occupied territory. Then, just sixty feet above the water and at some of the most heavily defended targets in Germany, they had to drop with pinpoint precision a complicated spinning cylindrical bomb that had never before been used operationally.

More than that, the entire operation had to be put together in less than ten weeks, while the water levels in the dams were still high enough for the bombs to be effective. When the visionary aviation engineer Barnes Wallis's concept of the bouncing bomb was green-lighted, he hadn't even drawn up the plans for the weapon that was to smash the dams. What followed was an incredible race against time that, despite numerous setbacks and against huge odds, became one of the most successful and game-changing bombing raids of all time. A very complete guide to train your puppy(this is the most recommend age to train it),for it specific chapters and most important the explaining of the dog behavior and how to correct it in very easy ways as seen in chapter 2. You can train a puppy with this book to be an obedient companion,educated friend or almost a dog soldier but,the use is in your hands. One of my favorite parts chapter 2 because it tells you how to correct your dog without using violence,that can scar the puppy for life,instead use positive and bad reinforment of course kind but firm,without leaving the love out of the train. If you want a loving puppy that dont pee the entire living room or a obedient companion,you should buy the book and get a puppy.

Just amazing book, I am the owner of 4 weeks old puppy and he is starting to have those symptoms of rebel and exiting that every puppy have, while I read this book I’m practicing every advice written in this book because it’s the best way to train your puppy, it shows you how can they understand that you’re their master and they have to respect you otherwise when they get like almost 1 years old you won’t be able to control them. After one week of practice now my dog stooped to pee every corner or furniture and to bite every shoe I have, I’m sure that with more practice he will have understanding of every command I’ll say.

"What keeps you walking in faithful ministry?" - Dr. George R. Sinclair, Jr.

Although I am not a pastor, I have worked in social service for more than 30 years. The question Dr. Sinclair asks in Walking in Wonder,.... "what keeps you walking in faithful ministry?"... resonated with me. I ordered the book and was not disappointed. The essays and stories in Walking in Wonder washed over me like a refreshing rain.... providing me with affirmation, spiritual healing and a reminder of the remarkable mystery of God's steadfast love and constant amazing grace. I will read this book again and again. I highly recommend this as a gift for yourself or for someone you love.

not just for ministers

This book is NOT JUST FOR MINISTERS!
As a physician and city council member, I found many helpful sections on leadership and the intersections of science and religion.
The questions at the end of each chapter inspire much self-reflection.
Dr.Sinclair's writing style is easy reading and you can almost hear his voice as you read the text, very conversational.
The writing oozes of his humanity, sharing the struggles we all face in life and how to bring hope and positive energy to these challenges.
While offering suggestions, the style is largely inductive, causing the reader to pause and try to find their own solutions or answers.
This will be a great starting point for discussions in church groups, community leaders and any adults facing real-life challenges.

Renew your ability to "walk in wonder"

Dr. George Sinclair's book, "Walking in Wonder." ostensibly written for ministers, is also very helpful to laypersons. Every Christian has "down times," when the wonder of walking with Jesus is dim, or even lost. Dr. Sinclair uses passages from great theologians, such as St. Paul, Karl Barth, and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, to inspire and enlighten. The author also uses anecdotes from everyday life to encourage the reader. This book is very readable, easy to understand, and helpful to anyone who has lost the joy of walking with Christ in daily life, or is dejected by the burdens of ministry.

AWESOME!

Everyone who knows me knows that "awesome" is one of my favorite words, but I don't use it lightly. It applies to things that to me are far above just good. Hostile Justice was truly awesome. It's difficult to review a really, really good book without listing a lot of spoilers which were what made you love the book to start with. I've had the pleasure of following the Justice series from Book 1 - Cruel Justice and they just kept getting better. I truly don't know how the author can top this one.

I was slightly disappointed when Lorne left law enforcement. In Hostile Justice she rejoins her former group as DS Lorne, with Katy her former partner now her superior. This adds just the right touch of reality in a situation that would be difficult for both of them. Add to this a grisly murder right off the bat, just enough love and family to feel you're part of the story, and a counter-plot of a horrendous crime and you have a top-notch mystery you truly don't want to put down.

When recommending the Justice series I've often said--not for the squeamish. Ms. Comley's books deal with clearly what are true life crimes and situations fictionalized for entertainment, and often are quite graphic. Even the squeamish will love this book. Although the story deals with a gruesome crime and several heart-breaking moments, it's well written and I can highly recommend it even to cozy mystery lovers.

Looking for several hours of sheer entertainment? Love a well told mystery that even kept me guessing all the way to the end? Hostile Justice is just what you're looking for.

Having read all the previous Justice books in this series I never thought for 1minute that they could get any better, how wrong was I this book is just brilliant. Follow Lorne as she is back in the force again, and already has a few murders to solve. Lorne, her husband Tony and daughter Charlie are evolving in to be must follow characters. If you have read the previous books in this series you are going to love this book, I cannot recommend this book highly enough.

Lorne Warner is back with a boom in Mel Comley's latest and much anticipated addition to her Justice series, 'Hostile Justice'.

After some persuasion by her husband Tony, her former boss Sean Roberts and ex partner Katy Foster, Lorne quits her PI duties and returns to the force for the third time. Tony and her daughter Charlie are now in charge of running the animal shelter. Once again Lorne is working with Katy, but their roles have now been exchanged. Due to her retirement from the force, Lorne is now back to DS, while Katy has in the meantime been promoted to DI.

Immediately after a warm welcome back by her colleagues, Lorne finds herself in the midst of a gruesome murder investigation. A headless woman's body is discovered by four young boys in an abandoned warehouse. Katy and Lorne have no clues regarding the woman's identity, however from the expensive diamond ring and clothing, they quickly deduce that she must have surely been a wealthy woman.

Whilst investigating the woman's murder, Lorne quickly finds another equally heinous crime case dropped in her lap - this time closer to home. Her daughter Charlie is invited to her best friend Wendy's eighteenth birthday party which unfortunately does not end up as intended.

I literally couldn't put this book down and finished devouring it whole in just a few hours. Like the rest of the series, 'Hostile Justice' is brim-full with suspense and loaded with interesting and believable characters and realistic dialogue. I'm absolutely certain that like me, all Mel Comley's (and Lorne Warner's) fans will really enjoy 'Hostile Justice'. Once the first page is turned, you will simply not be able to stop reading all the rest.

Could they survive their trial marriage & get their happy ending?

No one can create a stubborn and arrogant hero like author Lynne Graham. In Book1 of her new trilogy, one will meet the extremely proud Spaniard, Alejandro Navarro Vasquez. Stubborn doesn't even describe this man who takes the word of his half brother that he was having an affair with Jemima, Alejandro's wife.

Now two years later, Jemima is living back in her native England with her two year old son Alfie, the son she thought she had miscarried when she left her husband after a bitter argument, However, her doctor confirmed she was definitely pregnant and had probably lost a twin. Still married to Alejandro, she was running a florist shop and raising her son. What she didn't count on was for her ex to make an appearance and demand a divorce.
What this proud man didn't count on was to find out he had a young son. Of course there was a DNA test and which proved Alejandro was the father. Demands, more demands and finally they agreed that they would give their marriage a three month trial, for their son's sake. And so, the three of them returned to Spain and the Castle where Alejandro's wicked stepmother and sweet sister resided.

Accusation, after accusation kept being sent Jemima's way. Her husband wouldn't believe her concerning her relationship with his brother. However, the physical attraction and sensual awareness for both of them was still strong. What had always good between them was their love making, and so they resumed their relationship in the bedroom.. While reading this romance, I wondered how much Jemima would endure for the sake of her son? It was obvious his statements hurt her and that he would believe his brother over her. However, he did get rid of his stepmother when he finally realized all of the things his wife told him about her were true. Each of them, in their own way tried to get along, make the marriage work but they both were keeping secrets. Jemima about her abusive upbringing and about all of the money she had been blackmailed into given her father shortly after they were married.

It was obvious to me that Jemima still loved her husband and was hoping he would believe her. I sincerely thought he loved her from the time they met because he finally agreed for their relationship to be exclusive. Then when he asked this young woman to marry him. But I also felt for her living in a strange country, being treated so poorly by her in-law, having her husband working long hours and not paying attention to her. So I could understand why she sought out the friendship with his step-brother Marco. But as the three month period came to a close, there was a chain of events that set in motion suffering and pain for them both. However, when both of their secrets were revealed and Alejandro finally learned the truth about his brother and let down his guard, this couple got their amazing happy ending.

Familiar plot

This is one of those stories where the H believed the worst about the h and she ran away and had her baby away from him. Years later he tracks her down and she ends up back in Spain with him and his dreadful family. I did like the fact that the H was faithful to the h in the time they were apart and it was fairly clearly that he always loved her.

Another great story from LG. altho it carries shades of other stories I loved the H and h. Both are strong characters and the h is dignified and very strong. She takes her stand against injustice. The H is a man of character who respects his vows even tho he believes she has been unfaithful. This really worked for me. Jealousy can be destructive but is a flaw totally acceptable in a man in love. The womanizing while still married is weakness of character which, in my opinion, makes him a lesser man. For me this one was a true Hero! Hope to read more stories about a H like this one.

Check out Campanelli: Sentinel! Really excellent.

I recently read Mr. Crook's short story The Ping Tom Affair which I purchased from Amazon on my Kindle and purchased Campanelli: Sentinel from Mr. Crook direclty at a book signing event in Villa Park. After reading The Ping Tom Affair I immediately wanted to start Campanelli: Sentinel. Both are excellent, fast paced reads with wonderful characters. The stories are continuations of Frederick's excellent book The Dregs of Exodus, with stories of different characters after the mass exodus from Earth leaves Earth and it's resources depleted. Campanelli is a unique Chicago cop with some interesting future technology. He is a great character, and the book is filled with excellent characters throughout plus fun action sequences and an interesting future view of Chicago. Campanelli is one of my favorite characters from all of Frederick's stories. I hope to hear more from Frank Campanelli in the future. This would make a great series on TV. Here's hoping Sci Fi, AMC, BBC America or even the CW check these stories out.

I love science fiction and futurist cop novels

CAMPANELLI: SENTINEL is the second Frederick H. Crook book I've read and I'm rapidly becoming a big fan. I love science fiction and futurist cop novels, and this one has a real Blade-Runner-like feel to it.

It is said that the loss of eyesight makes the other sensory perceptions stronger, and when you add bio-electronic implants you essentially get a detective with beyond-earthly abilities. Frank Campanelli, a blind Chicago Police detective re-fitted with technology-enhanced eyeballs, must use all he has, and all his partner has, Marcus Williams, to bring down the most notorious crime family Chicago has yet to know, and to stop a massive exodus (the future has the opposite of an immigration problem—people don't want to migrate into the USA, they want to migrate out!) A specialized crime unit is formed specifically for the purpose—the Sentinel group.

The author paints a vivid picture of 2110 Chicago, where human trafficking and organized crime rule. If you think Chicago has problems now… well. What remains on earth is mostly riffraff—all the smart folks have already headed to Alethea, the Super-Earth where life is grand. Life has become a tenuous existence for those who have stayed behind.

A hugely imaginative storyline with plenty of twists and suspense to keep the pages turning all night, this is one of the better novels I've read in this genre for some time. Great job!

Futuristic Noir

What a fun read! I am really impressed with how Crook is able to combine noir-style detective work with futuristic sci-fi. It doesn’t seem as if they’re supposed to fit at first, but after a chapter or two, there’s no question--Campanelli: Sentinel is able to merge the dark underworld feel of Sam Spade with the shiny new-society feel of Rick Deckard like they were always meant to be together.

A thoroughly quality read, and highly recommended.

Good mystery in New England/Texas series

This again is a continuation of her New England/Texas series and as always has the secretive leading lady(s) and the strong, pushy male. It was a good mystery but you figure early on whodunit but so what... We wanted to see it heat up. Unfortunately, I wish she would have dealt more with Kara and Sam and less of everyone else. Ms. Neggers tends to bring in more & more characters when all I really want to do it hear about all the old ones. Still, I highly recommend it and would keep it along with my favorite "Finding You".

Pleasant, light summer reading....

I suppose my major reservation about STONEBROOK COTTAGE is that it's best read after the others in this New England-Texas series; it would stand as a good story on its own, but as usual there are all these characters hanging around from earlier books.
I enjoyed the characters - the children rang true, and it's always fun to 'catch up' on characters from earlier books. The secondary love story between the new governor and a local farmer has a nice, different twist. The hero was very much the alpha male of women's popular fiction intent on getting his own way, but since Neggers counters this with an equally strong heroine equally intent on getting her own way, it works.
It's light summer reading; not the best book I've read this summer, but far from the worst. I haven't yet decided if it will go into the keeper pile.

Stops and starts

I had read "The Harbor" by Carla Neggers and liked it, with reservations about the writing style. I liked it mostly for the ambience of the Maine coast. "Stonebrook Cottage," I discovered early on is the prequel to "The Harbor," but without that charm of Maine, or any other charm, for that matter.

There are just too many things wrong with this book. It repeats extraneous information endlessly, e.g., Sam's black eyes. Grammar and syntax are faulty, and there is considerable clutter. Didn't anyone at the publishing company even read the manuscript, much less edit it? The repetitions and language difficulties could have been eliminated and the book shortened by about 50-75 pages.

As in "The Harbor" there are many characters, with odd. hazy connections, referred to by first name, then last name, many pages apart. Again, I had to go back and make a list or I would never have been able to keep them straight. Even with a list, it was difficult. I don't usually have this problem, even with Dostoyevsky or Dickens, so I must fault the author here.

The action has way too many stops and starts. The result is an uneven flow of narration that is irritating. This is another problem that should have been solved by competent editors. A good pruning would have helped.

Now we come to the illogical events and explanations thereof. It is not giving away the plot to say that two missing children of the Connecticut governor's show up on their godmother's doorstep with a ridiculous explanation of why they ran away from a dude ranch and even more ridiculous and impossible evidence. And the godmother, supposedly a brilliant lawyer, no less, buys it whole. She actually follows the children's instructions as if she were no brighter or more experienced than they. That is just one example of what I mean. I would add that the children were completely unconvincing in their actions and dialogue.

Lastly, the ambience that lent charm to "The Harbor" is completely missing in this book. Austin, Texas and Connecticut just don't hack it somehow. And that doesn't leave much for this reader to find entertaining. Too bad. I had hoped for a repeat.

Enjoyable, Informative Read

Quite a different slant on the explosion-happy narratives generated by Michael Bay. I follow the blog and Twitter notes of The Bitter Script Reader. Always incisive and succinct, he suggests Bay's body of work deserves more respect and a second/third look. For film fans, it is a must-read for re-examining commercially successful cinema in light of subtext, subtleties (and not so subtle) aspects of Bay's story arcs.

Given TBSR's penchant for irony, at times I did wonder if I were not actually reading a send-up. Even so, his examination of the Bay corpus was vastly enjoyable and added to my established affection for Bay's body of work.

I've been a fan of both Michael Bay and The Bitter Script Reader for years and this book perfectly captures why. It's well researched, well argued and extremely fun. It can be easy to dismiss Michael Bay as just hack. A man-child making movies for other man-children. But, the reality is that you can't be as successful as Bay has been without talent, drive and the ability to tap into a mass audience that wants what you're selling. The BSR does a great job of explaining what is that Bay does so well, how his movies are then just "blowing stuff really pretty" and how many of his movies have a subversive quality to them you've probably never noticed. If you are a fan of cinema you owe it to yourself to read this great book.

Fascinating, informative, and fun as hell

A fascinating and thoroughly entertaining look at the films of Michael Bay, and I can't recommend it enough. Although its subject is often the butt of jokes in film nerd circles - and The Bitter Script Reader doesn't shy away from poking fun here and there - this book is genuinely informative and comes from a place of truly thoughtful film criticism. A great book for the serious film student and the casual moviegoer alike.
